After a long rest (or two) at camp, there's a scene where Shadowheart stands in front of Selune's statue, tearful that she only had a brief moment with her parents. Shar, the Mother of Night, chides you for your foolish efforts. You're told that, if Shadowheart frees her parents, she'll continue to suffer from her curse. Alternatively, Shadowheart can let her parents die so she can be free of Shar's hold on her.

The Sharran Lookout is located in Rivington east near the refugees’ barn. There, you’ll find a shabby tent-like setup next to a well with a man named Ferg Drogher standing underneath it. This man is a peddler of mementos, and, believe it or not, a Sharran. Use Shadowheart to talk to him and he’ll nudge her to the Cloister of Sombre Embrace—a Sharr temple underneath the House of Grief. Each character can get the +1 CHA buff (Patriar's Memory) and the +2 buff, but the chance of getting either buff from an individual sacrifice is low.

Succeeding on either of these checks will permanently reveal the purpose of the Mirror of Loss to the party, and is required in order to benefit from it. A decently tough fight is coming up, whether you’re here to take down the Sharran sect or take command of it. She has a special ability to return Radiant damage back to attackers, so Smites and other attacks will bite you back hard. Casting Daylight effects or using weapons like the Blood of Lathander can help offset the encroaching Darkness, too. The House of Grief fight is pretty tough, even for Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3. Viconia will specifically prey on Shadowheart’s fears and transform herself and others into wolves.
The “I Need a Doll” and “The Man” hitmaker opened up about how he processed the death of the Swedish DJ, real name Tim Bergling, who died in 2018. The 56-year-old also opened up about her own mental health struggles and successes. Viconia will ask you to hand Shadowheart over to her so that there will be no problems. Here comes a big decision for you, as Shadowheart no longer wants to be with people who worship Shar and harm her. You can either defend Shadowheart and fight Viconia and her comrades or surrender Shadowheart to Viconia and let her down. Viconia is a tough boss, so you’ll have to get your hands dirty if you want to save Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3. The House of Grief is a dangerous dungeon filled with many enemies and traps. A piece of Shadowheart’s soul is trapped in the House of Grief and you need to free her in BG3.

Our programs serve adults, teens, children and toddlers, which include grief support groups that are specific to the age of the griever, length of time since the death, and the relationship to the person who died. She’s our favorite goth girlfriend, the most romanced character in Baldur’s Gate 3. But we know for a fact that we’re not the only people who killed every Netherstone-bearing boss, completed every side quest, and realized… wait. We have no idea where Shadowheart’s Sharran home, the House of Grief, is or the Sharran lookout she’s supposed to find. So, here’s how to find the House of Grief in Baldur’s Gate 3. If the Intimidation or Persuasion checks are passed, then Viconia will relent.
Playwright Eleanor Burgess began writing “Galilee, 34” in 2019, the year she became a mother. “Something about being pregnant and giving birth made me think about how the Virgin Mary was a real mom, who had a real son and had to watch him get killed by state violence,” she said. She will tell Shadowheart that they are through the door in the Chamber of Loss. As you converse with her, you will be given additional chances to end the conversation and kill her. If you killed Viconia, you get Viconia's Walking Fortress, Viconia's Priestess Robe and Handmaiden's Mace. If you’ve managed to make it this far without knowing the answer to that question, you probably need to stop skipping the cutscenes in Baldur’s Gate 3. Shadowheart is arguably the most core companion in BG3, as one of the first friendly faces you meet (alongside Lae’zel) and bringing the Artifact into play. The magic-wielders will toss out a mix of Darkness and Bone Chill, making healing and targeting difficult. And there’s a pretty decent number of enemies in the room, too. Talking to Viconia with Shadowheart after succeeding the persuasion will still trigger the normal story encounter to offer or refuse giving Shadowheart to her. Viconia DeVir is the mother supreme of the Shar sect within the House of Grief, and is responsible for orchestrating Shadowheart's kidnapping and raising her to be an agent of Shar. If you do not have Shadowheart with you, you will have to pay 1000 gold to get safe access to the Mapping of the Heart room. Complete the dialogue with Viconia DeVir as usual, and she will ask you to return with Shadowheart.
It’s a powerful story that culminates here, in the House of Grief, as Shadowheart either fully renounces Shar or cements her devotion. The player can encourage Shadowheart one way or another or let her decide. (For the record, I let her decide, and she chose to let her parents die.) This choice is also affected by whether Shadowheart chose to kill the Nightsong or not, near the end of Act 2. If Shadowheart is here to find her parents and has renounced Shar, Viconia and her followers will call for her head, which you can hand over if you want their assistance for Gather Your Allies. This does mean you’ll have to fight everyone in the room, though. If Shadowheart is here as a Dark Justiciar seeking to seize control, you’ll have an easier fight on your hands.

A conversation with Shadowheart will put a final note on her storyline, but otherwise, you’re done with the Daughter of Darkness storyline and the House of Grief in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you want the optimal gameplay choice, removing the curse is a boon. Make the choice that feels right for you and for Shadowheart. I recommend trying to keep yourself out of the main hallway chokepoint and using AOE spells to clear out one side. If you have to fight in the chokepoints, spells like Cloudkill or Hunger of Hadar can work wonders.
The party can agree, to which she will charge a 1000 gold fee. Shadowheart's presence in the party will waive the fee entirely. Mirie will unlock the door to the backroom and tell the party to sit on the bench. Overseeing Tuesday’s panel and advocating for the administration’s federal action plan was Doug Emhoff, husband of Vice President Kamala Harris. Emhoff said the plan aims to reduce the country’s roughly 132 suicides a day. I think what it comes down to is reaching out and making that connection, and I don’t think there’s some such thing as too much love.
Surrender Shadowheart and Lady Shar's faithful will join you in Gather Your Allies quest. Head in, and the Shar worshippers will instantly clock Shadowheart, even if she’s changed up her hair at this point. Here, you can pass a check to find a button and access the secret passageway. Once you’re done with that, you can depart the House of Grief.
These double doors can additionally be bypassed with the Grief Key she carries on her person. When you first arrive in Rivington during act three, you can find the Sharran lookout on the east side of the village, close to the Requisitioned Barn. The lookout's name is Ferg Drogher, but he won't talk to you unless you speak to him, making it quite hard to figure out he's the lookout among all the refugees gathered. Speak to him with Shadowheart in your party, he'll direct you to the cloister, and you'll progress her Daughter of Darkness quest. Despite it being such an important quest step, it can be quite hard to find the House of Grief, or the Sharran lookout who Shadowheart mentions you should locate in Wyrm's Crossing.
